green design is the future!!!!!!

russia's leading bank has just unveiled plans to construct a green-roofed corporate university designed by Dutch Architect Erick van Egeraat. Located in a rural setting west of Moscow, the Sberbank University will provide education and training for the bank's 20,000 employees. To achieve a short construction time, the campus buildings will largely be prefabricated, and the plan focuses upon sustainability as a cornerstone of its design.

designer bee keeping...

needs!!!!!!!

Designing for a need, why do we see so many designers who are still designing products, that are in a modern day excess, who cares if they are Eco materials, china have the eminent monopoly,so why design a bag or blanket where you can acquire a perfectly nice one for a fraction of the price!!!!!

so....where are we as future designers....we need to be thinking ahead, pushing the boundaries on innovation and originality, use what we have got.and not produce items that are already there.....look..search and try to conceptualize for the needs...

e.g.....well there are so many poor people without a roof over their head,so how a bout a insulating bag that could be bought for 20 rand in the size of a ball, and then fold out into a abode that can keep them warm and safe from the elements...

There i see a need!!!

little boxes..little boxes all in a row...

Everyday, i walk past the back of a pick n pay and i find an incredible, daily (new) amount of cardboard boxes from various products that are filtered into the shop.this is a very scary thought as ,even though they are boxes of a natural paper nature that can biodegrade, yet in the landfill environment,It only creates harmful methane gasses and takes years to degrade through all the other unwanted rubbish......

so..i am trying to device a new way of using the cardboard boxes,by formulating a process of deconstruction to create a surface texture or shape, form to become a viable product in the modern day environment.

busy in the process of salvaging materials...1st part..will follow with new investigations.

Nature.....first.

Nature first

In my opinion, as also seen in my earlier surface design work one should always associate with nature first. Nature offers the most extensive sources of inspiration that one could conceptualise from, there are thousands of interesting plants, trees and natural wonders all waiting to be explored in terms of the design culture that we as designers procreate.

Nature also offers a more environmentally conscious approach to design and thus is conducive as it reminds us that this is our reality and we must conserve and work with nature rather than against it.!!!!!!!!

more natural inspiration.
